Effectively promoting social change requires that we are able to work well together, to develop synergistic and creative relationships, to make decisions consciously, and to understand and apply tools for effective collaboration.
Often we are limited in our capacity to make conscious choices. In our group work we can find ourselves caught in unconscious habits, living out unhelpful strategies, stumbling through a quagmire of unskilful communication and inter-personal tensions. But it doesn’t need to be like that.
Within us we have all the qualities we need to build effective, caring, and mutually empowering teams and organisations. We can find the resources and skills to act with growing awareness and emotionalintelligence. We can create working relationships which bring out the best in ourselves and others – for the benefit of the world around us.
This course offers a set of tools, skills and processes that help us to bring awareness to our work in groups. As well as personal awareness we will provide methods for making our groups more conscious of internal dynamics, the processes and tendencies that hold us back. We will explore how to transform those into effective collaboration for social change. The course will equip us to:
• consciously choose responses and make wise decisions amidst complexity
• work effectively with others
• create and navigate change
• foster health and well-being in our organisations
• act with awareness of the impact of our work on ourselves, our organisations and the wider systems of which we are a part
